CREEKING IN LEVANTE

A few weeks ago, unexpectedly, a big storm over Alicante made that some places were flooded and for us it was a chance for paddling and scouting for new ones. We quikly  go to paddle a new river, that Carbonell knew. He is good paddler of this zone. The name of the river is Xalo near of Castell de Castells. Fran and me went to Alicante, where Carbonell was waiting for us. We checked out it was ok, and went into the big shit! We started down of a weir and we finished half kilometre before of the next village, which name I don't remember. A lot of people ask me, how this river is, and I always answer it is better than the Serpis' river, it has more interesting sections of bedrock, although when the river opens, there are tough vegetation, but it is possible to cross it well.

The next day Rafa, Hector and me, went to Serpis' river. It had big water, was a total different river  from what remembered. There were big waves and some hydraulics. There were sections that were more difficult, but others, like the "undercut", were easier because it was completely covered. The "Stair" had more water in the left that in the right side, and at the end had a nice drop. The "Mushroom" was scary, there were two big mushrooms at the bottom of each drop.
